The Illumina MiSeq

A standard Illumina MiSeq run produces paired-end data with read lengths up to 150bp. The run time for a standard 2x150bp run is 24 hours. Currently there is normally no queue to use this instrument, as it only requires one sample to run.

Sanger-encoded fastq.gz files are made available for user collection, with aligned data available on request. A typical MiSeq run will produce 3.5 Gbp of raw sequence data (approximately 23 million reads).

HiSeq 2500 Typically ~35 Gbp of raw sequence per lane from a 2x100-bp sequencing run (~250 million reads).
MiSeq Typically ~3.5 Gbp of raw sequence per lane from a 2x150-bp sequencing run (23 million reads).
